Being Kind is Fine! But Never Lower Your Standard!

Being Kind is Fine! But Never Lower Your Standard!

Hello, Pure-hearted souls! ❤️

I believe you all are doing well.

Today, I want to share a life lesson (Part 1) that I learnt in my life.

We are all asked to be kind, always. Being kind can make other people's lives smoother, and it can create a chain of happiness for everyone.

This is true. But it is always very important to know that not everyone deserves your kindness all the time.

For instance, in your workplace, you may be kind to a person just because they are too young or too old compared to you. But your kindness may make them ill-treat or disrespect you, and it may drain your energy at the end of the day.

Finally, you may notice that, in the middle of all this, you have started lowering your standards for someone to whom you show your kindness, while ignoring the fact that you are being disrespected and spoken badly about behind your back by the same person.

For another instance, at home, you may be too kind and compassionate towards your family all the time. But if you are constantly ignored by your family, including at times when you need emotional, physical, or financial support, then it is not fair.

This is a red flag that either you are pouring too much kindness, love, and time into a relationship, or you are showing them to the wrong people.

As it is family, it is necessary to be kind and be like Mother Teresa. But I want to remind you of one thing: YOU ALSO DESERVE THAT KINDNESS, CARE, AND LOVE FROM YOUR FAMILY.

Being empathetic is fine, but that should not ruin your peace, respect, and so on. This happens mostly in the lives of Indian mothers. (I will discuss this part later.)

In both cases, there is still a chance to set a boundary to protect your peace and raise your standards. When you start doing this, you may see an immediate change in the other person.

If the other person is really the right person, then they will gradually accept your boundaries and start syncing with your frequency of being respectful towards each other. If not, the person may become distant or disconnected.

Because when you set a boundary, you pull back the power that was connected through that relationship, and the other person can no longer access it in the same way. They may start feeling more awkward without you doing anything as revenge. Simply setting a boundary for yourself and protecting your peace can itself stop them from behaving the way they did before.

This article is not only about how to raise your standards, but also about how to protect your peace by being kind to the right people. Not everyone deserves your kindness, your time, and all of you.

Never forget that a thing or a person who ruins your peace is never meant for you in that version of your life.

If it is meant for you, even if you set a boundary and take care of yourself, it will reach out to you at the right time.

If not, then it no longer serves you or your highest good.

The main point here is that when such a thing or person leaves you, you will not feel their absence as much. Because they didn't give you anything in return; you were only the sender and never the receiver. That is the great lesson life teaches us: no one else can give you peace or be the sole reason for your happiness. Only you can create that for yourself.

Just think: if you can make an effort to make someone happy, then why don't you do that for yourself?

Right now, ask yourself this question: “What should I do to make myself happy?”

You will get the answer. Then, keep yourself happy. No one else will do that for you.

Never give the key to your happiness to anyone or anything. You should be the owner of your happiness.

I believe this article may help you in some way to protect your peace instead of being too kind to the wrong people and things.

Stand up for yourself, always. Not everyone will do that for you every time.

Wishing you all a blessed and happy life.

Vazhga valamudan. ❤️
